Not every breast augmentation goes as planned. Some women do not receive the results that they are looking for. Regardless of the reason, if you were left with breasts that were unsatisfactory in look or feel, you may want to consider breast implant revision surgery. Revision surgery will correct the appearance and feel of your breasts.
There are many different reasons women receive an implant exchange. First, the size of your breasts may still not be the size that you wanted to get from your first surgery. Perhaps after your initial surgery you have realized that you want larger or smaller breasts. If you already have surgical implants, Dr. Yospur can utilize your previous incisions to remove your original implants and exchange them for the size that you desire.
You may be unhappy with your original implants because of wrinkling and rippling. If that is the case, Dr. Yospur will remove your saline implants and replace them with silicone implants to prevent any future rippling.
There are also times when a shell of scar tissue naturally forms around the breast implant during the time of healing. Dr. Yospur can release the pressure by doing a capsulectomy to completely remove the scar tissue shell without removing any breast tissue. Then, he will remove your old implant and insert a new one.
You may notice that you have bottoming out. This occurs when a large implant is placed on weak breast tissue. It can become too heavy for the tissue to support. Over time, this means that the implant may slip out of the pocket. Dr. Yospur will be able to correct this so that you are once again happy with your implants.
There are many additional reasons women receive an implant exchange. If you are not happy with your implant, simply contact us to assist you with this surgery.
Women who are considering a breast implant revision will need to wait until their breasts have healed from their original surgery. Minor swelling can affect the appearance of the breasts for six months to one year after surgery.
Patients whose breasts are higher on the chest will need to give the implants time to settle into their breast pocket. However, if you have developed any complications as a result of your augmentation procedure, you should consider immediate surgery. We would be happy to perform an implant exchange.
Following the procedure you will want a friend or family member to drive you home. Although you may experience some discomfort, medication should be able to help with that.
Depending on your specific reason for receiving the surgery, recovery time can vary. During your consultation, we will be happy to give you a more exact timeline.
The most common side effects of the surgery include bruising, swelling, and redness, though this will subside after recovery.
Dr. Yospur always attempts to minimize scarring by using existing incisions. If you do require a small new incision, this scarring will fade over time.
We stay up to date with all of the latest techniques to ensure that your recovery time is as short as possible and that you stay safe. We always make sure to ask you questions and evaluate you prior to surgery to ensure that you are a good candidate. During your consultation, we want to hear your goals so that we can do our best to make sure you feel happy with the outcome. You are always welcome to ask us questions before or after the surgery. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible.
