To achieve the youthful appearance that you may be longing to see each time you look in the mirror again, take a look at either Botox or Juvéderm. Whether through aging, gravity or sun damage, our faces begin to show signs of what it has been exposed to over the years.

This comes in the form of lines, wrinkles, creases, crow’s feet, smile lines, and laugh lines.

If these are beginning to appear on your face, you will be happy to know that you have multiple options for helping to erase them and return to a younger looking appearance. While you may have heard of Botox, you also have another option to consider: Juvéderm.

What Is Botox?
Botox is a direct injection that works through blocking nerve signals to isolated muscles in the face. This in turn causes the muscle to be unable to contract, thus softening wrinkles and creases in the face.

What Is Juvéderm?
Juvéderm is comprised of hyaluronic acid. HA is a substance that naturally occurs in the layer of your skin called the dermis. It is one way that your skin continues to appear hydrated and supple.

Both Botox and Juvéderm are FDA approved for specific uses. There are benefits to each. Here are some things to take into consideration when you are choosing between Botox or Juvéderm.

Botox or Juvéderm: Which Is Right For Me?

For moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines, consider Botox. It has been FDA approved for temporarily making those look better in adults. Botox is a quick procedure and can usually be completed in our office within 15 minutes. There is no anesthesia required and you may experience only mild discomfort during the procedure.

You will see the most immediate results with Botox. You can combine Botox with other procedures such as chemical peels, dermal fillers, and microdermabrasion. With Botox, there is little recovery time; just do not rub your face afterwards.

Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC is used primarily for lines around the nose and mouth. It is also FDA approved. It is safe and highly effective. The injection itself contains a minimal amount of local anesthetic. It is basically a filler that will help give the areas that you need a little boost.

Once it is injected, it may spread slightly beyond the injection site to help fill out the area. Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC has been known to last for up to two years.

Procedures may come with mild to moderate side effects and people with certain conditions should not undergo these procedures. If you have any questions, talk to Dr. Yospur before your procedure to have them all answered and make sure you are making the decision that is best for you.
